Location: Hazaribagh is the district headquarter in the state of Jharkhand.
How To Reach: The nearest airport is Ranchi (100 km), the nearest railway station is Kodarma. Regular direct bus services are available from Patna and Ranchi.. Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation also runs luxury coach services.

Hazaar in Urdu means thousands and Bagh is garden, the place literally means a thousand gardens. The place is an excellent health resort in the state of Jharkhand, which perched at a height of 2019 ft above sea level. Blessed with excellent climate and scenic beauty all around it, the place is worth a tourist destination. On its eastern margin, Parasnath – the highest hill in the Jharkhand, rising to a height of 4480 ft. Parasnath hill is an abode of Jains. Parasnath hills are important pilgrimage spot of Jains as 23 out of 24 Tirthankars have attained salvation in the hills. The Prasvantha, 23rd tirthankar was very popular among tribal population of Chotanagpur. He is identified by the snake king Dharanendra, whose many hoods protect the meditating Tirthankar. There are beautiful temples of both the sects of Swetamber and Digamber rested on the top.

Despite its allure, traveling to Hazaribagh is not easy. Traveling along the hilly tract dotted by lakes, streams, forests and ravines, remains a surreal experience. In the Hazaribagh is best known for its dense forests and its national park. Nestling in the hilly region,at an altitude of 615 m, the park covers an area of 183.89 sq.kms and houses number of wild animals that is wild boar, sambhar, chital, sloth bear, tiger and panther. In the latest census it is estimated the presence of 14 tigers, 25 panthers and 400 sambhars.

Hazaribagh Wildlife Sanctuary
An unexploited terrain with dense forest and plenty of wild animals, Hazaribagh National Park is worth place for nature’s lovers. The forest retreat is stretched over an area of 184 sq.km of varied landscape. the undulating countryside, steep hills and green meadows can easily captivate travelers. The best time to visit the park is during spring when the landscape is shrouded with fresh green sal and miscellaneous trees. There are numerous observatory towers to easy pick the secretive wild beast. Water holes in the sanctuary is also a popular place to have a glimpse of hoardes of animals ranging from sambhar, nilgai, chital and kakar. Encounter with endangered tiger and panther require patience. The main gate at Pokharia is on the NH 33, 21 km from Barhi and 16 km from Hazaribagh. The sanctuary is surrounded by habitations of tribals.

Picnic and Water Spot At Hazaribagh Lake
The prisitine lake is surrounded by serene environment, attracts many travelers. Due to its immense popularity in recent times, it now become a popular picnic spot and recreation activities like swimming, boating and other water sports.

Canary Islands
Perhaps the best place to soak in Hazaribagh’s natural beauty is from Canary Hill. Canary hills lies in the proximity to Hazaribagh, which features a well laid out park and studded with three small lakes and an observatory tower. From the top of hill you can have a bird eye view of Hazaribagh town.

Urwan Tourist Complex
It is located 62 km from Hazaribagh and few kilometers from Tilaiya Dam, which runs by Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation. A perfect place for relaxing and enjoy boating and other water sports.

Tilaiya Dam
Jhumri Tilaiya is actually two places, one is Jhumri, a small village and another one is Tilaiya Dam. Built across the Barakar River, the Tilaiya Dam and DVC run Hydel Staion are dedicated to the people of India. a scenic park was established to commemorate Jawaharlal Nehru visit to laid the foundation stone.
