Delhi is both daunting and alluring, a rambling metropolis of strange amalgamation of stunning ancient monuments. Delhi is vastly spread out, the impact of the commotion, noise, population and sheer scale of the place make Delhi a happening place. Though wide spread roads and traffic jams, the tourist interested place is not very hard to navigate. Old Delhi is mainly dotted with monuments in sandstone and marble whereas New Delhi is more of markets, residential areas, multiplexes and good roads. In old Delhi there is a main Inter State Bus Terminal (ISBT), Kashmire Gate and to the south, the New Delhi railway station. Jam packed Paharganj area nearby is best place to seek inexpensive accommodation.

Republic Day Prade

New Delhi can be divided into business and residential area. The core of New Delhi is Connaught Place that filled up with administrative offices and formal building. Apart from those Connaught Place is a popular hangout for shopping and munching. Running south from Connaught Place is Janpath, which has the tourist office, hotels and a shopping strip. The Indira Gandhi International Airport is around 23 km southwest of Delhi. Residential areas of Delhi is mostly in the form of hovel settlements and affluent bungalows. There are also flats of Delhi Development Authority where almost 40% of people lives.

Festivals In Delhi

Republic Day
The biggest national festival festival in Delhi in 26th January, a colorful ceremony with a fascinating military parade.

Beating Of The Retreat
on 29th January, the closing of Republic Day celebration is marked by the Beating Of The Retreat, means military pageantry. Tickets are essential for both Republic Day and Beating Of The Retreat festival and can be obtained at India Tourism Delhi.

Delhi Flower Show
This beautiful flower show is held on January and February over a few days.

Mango Festival
This juicy festival is held at the Delhi Talkatora in the month of July. Running for several days featuring hundreds varieties of mango.

Qutub Festival
Held in the Qutub Complex in the month of October and November running several days, featuring Indian music and dance performance.
