Delhi is fast growing as a shopping hub as rapid growth of number of shopping malls as emerging as fashionable shopping districts. The traditional places to shop in Delhi are around Connaught Place, and Chandni Chowk but their are growing number of suburbs at various places in Delhi, which houses items ranging from traditional to modern. One of the famous place is Hauz Khas Village, 12 km southwest of Connaught Place, has numerous boutiques, jewelery shops and galleries whereas in Dilli Haat, artists from different states of India sell their product at the enjoyable open air.

Greater Kailash Colony and South Extension I & II are the best place to shop for hand-spun cotton clothes. South Delhi Khan Market is another place where one can find products from bookshops to European imported food. Bengali Market, off Barakhamba Road, which is renowned for numerous sweet shops and large bustling cafes. Most of New Delhi markets accept credit cards while credit card is less practiced in old Delhi.

Art, Antiques, Crafts And Jewelery
Sunder Nagar Market near Purana Quila is a nice place to shop for art, antiques and jewelery. The Hauz Khas Village is also a fine place to look for interesting art and antiques shops. Only one thing to remember that it's illegal to take art objects over one hundred years old out of the country.

If you are seeking old statues, incense, shawls, paintings, the Tibetan Market at the north end of Janpath is a popular traveler's choice. Though only few stalls are run by Tibetan. Bargain hard and if you are not capable of bargaining best switch over to State Government Emporium with fixed but fair prices. You will find number of emporium at Baba Kharak Singh Marg near Connaught Place. some of the popular shops of arts and antiques are Central Cottage Industries Emporium near Imperial hotel Janpath, Cottage Of Art And Jewels at Hauz Khas Village, Neemrana Shop at Lado Sarai Near Qutub Complex.

Books
If you are a book worm Delhi is the right place for you. It has wide selection of places to buy books. Connaught Place and Palika Bazaar have many good bookshops. There are also good bookshops at Khan Market. Upmarket hotels such as the Imperial Hotel often have their own bookstore. Some budget hotels have multilingual collections of second hand books for sale, swap or part exchange. If you seek for old books in a cheap price go for Daryaganj book market on every Sunday.

Some of the popular bookshops are RS Book and Prints at South Extension, Rajiv Book House at Palika Bazaar, Timeless at Housing Society Extension.

Fabric And Clothes
After Mumbai Delhi is the place where fabric and cloth shops sell anything from high quality silks, home spun cottons, Kashmiri shawls to traditional kurta pyjamas. Popular places to shop for western outfits are Paharganj, the Tibetan Market, Sarojini Market, Connaught Place and Lajpat Nagar Market. Roadside stalls behind Tibetan Market off Janpath sell lavishly embroidered and mirrored spreads from Rajasthan and Gujarat. The best place to buy silks and cotton are government emporiums, which are on Baba Kharak Singh Marg at Connaught Place.

Some of the famous shops in Delhi are Anokhi at Khan Market, Fabindia at Greater Kailash, Handloom House at Connaught Place, Khadi Gramodyog Bhawan at the corner of Sansad Marg and Connaught Place, people Tree at Sansad Marg and Tibetan Carpets and Handicrafts at Jor Bagh, Lodi Road.
