One of the prettiest settings in the north Goa, Vagator and Chapora charm
lies in the series of rusty cliffs, unheralded greenery and picturesque
background. Vagator and Chapora are two small villages, which are the center
of wild parties. The place is always crowded with religious party buffs and
backpackers. They set camp here for many days, sometimes for months. Vagator
lies at the northern end of the Calangute beach and gained popularity
because of its obscurity and famous Chapora Fort.
Vagator and Chapora is a nice place to observe the rural life of Goa. A
fishing village, Chapora is a home to number villagers in traditional
attire. The women here are housewives as well as sellers. In their colorful
dresses they are seen higgling and pawning fish by the roadside. Touring
around the village is a nice experience where old people have numerous
stories of sea. Vagator is much younger beach than Anjuna. The beach also
hold many trance parties and an attractive place for swimming. Chapora has
no beach but famous for its ancient fort and rural life. There are small
roadside beer pubs that sell cheap booze. A freaky 'Doctor Death' clinic is
not the right place for treatment but surely a disturbingly provocative
thing to see. A pharmacy where no one even get a headache tablet but plenty
morphine based product available.
