Location: Towering above the Chenab Gorge at 6,64 ft, 112km ahead of Jammu.
How To reach: Nearest airport is Jammu(112km), nearest railhead is also Jammu. To reach Patnitop by road is also an option. NH1 from Jammu va Domel, Udhampur and Chineni.
Where To Stay: There are high ranked hotels in Patnitop. Budget hotels are few and always crowded.
When To Go: All round the year.
This beautiful hill station perched high at 6,640ft and discovered centuries ago and hence approached by narrow road. Bounded by dense forests of pine and cedar, Patnitop is not unlike an oasis in the desert because in the relatively low lying part of Jammu province, it is one of the few areas that receives snowfall in winter. Patnitop is besieged by day trippers who hovers through the Jammu-Katra Patnitop circuit as quickly as they can, only to depart by in the evening. Situated on the very top of a hil, Patnitop offers an excellent vantage point to enjoy the stunning vistas of the Chenab Gorge.

Three fresh water springs at Patnitop are believed to have the medicinal property. Patnitop welcomes trekkers who trek to nearby mountains. Patnitop serves as a basepoint for trekking expedition. People gets enough time for acclimatization. Patnitop also serves as a fascinating skiing

Patnitop is an ideal region that serves as a base for tourist who trek to the nearby mountains. Special skiing courses are conducted at Patnitop for travelers. Most tour packages offer tourists amateur ski courses, including equipment and facilities for skiing and other outdoor activities. Tours and travels to Patnitop include a visit to Sudh Mahadev. It is one of the sacred Hindu pilgrimages. The walk to Shiva Garh is also an exciting activity.

Sights And Activities

Skiing
In winter there is a thin layer of snow covering Patnitop. Skiing is strictly for beginners. There are plenty of skiing schools who take of your arrangements. A nice place for sledging, snowmen and snowball fights.

Walk Around
Patnitop is relatively small place and easy to walk around. If you wish, there are ponies on hire. Chinar Garden, Picnic Spot and Skating Garden are the three must visit spots.

Excursions
There are two excursions out of Patnitop, one to Madha Top, the ridge opposite patnitop, and the other to Sanasar, a grassy meadow fringed by fir trees.

Nag Temple
The 6th century Nag Temple at Ishadhari is within Patnitop itself. The small bazaar that has sprung up around it offers some cherry like dried fruits that double up as prasad as well as mementos.
