Location: The National Highway 37 runs through the park. Kaziranga also known as Kohora is located at a distance of 217km from Guwahati.
How To Reach: he nearest airport is Guwahati , other airport is Jorhat that is much nearer to Kaziranga but less connected tith rest of India. The nearest railhead is Furkating. Kaziranga main gat is on NH 37. There are plenty of buses runs from Guwahati, Tezpur and upper Assam.
When To Go: November to April
Where To Stay: The main locations of accommodation facilities are at Kohora and Baguri.
One of the largest national parks is India’s prized wildlife sanctuary. This UNESCO World Heritage Site covers an area of 430 sq km on the southern bank of the Brahmaputra. This magnificent park is located 217km east of Guwahati, occupies the vast valley floor against a backdrop of the forest covered Karbi Anlong hills. The park has extremely blessed landscape where rivulets and shallow lakes and the semi evergreen forested highlands is covered with tall elephant grass.

The park is a remarkable success story of conservation of endangered one horned rhinoceros. This famous one horned rhinos are most precious among poachers for its horn. The one horned rhinos are big beast who can reach a height of over two meters and weigh more than two tonnes. Apart from rhinos, the park is famous for various other animals. There are herds of wild buffalo graze nonchalantly close to the park headquarters and the rich bird life includes egrets, herons, storks, fish eating eagle and grey pelican colony are some of the prominent member of the park. There are Asian elephants who move through the tall elephant grass, also swamp deer, hog deer, barking deer, sambar, pythons, civet cat, wild boars and ferocious royal Bengal tiger.

Ecological Variations In Kaziranga National Park
Kaziranga national park is enshrouded with tall elephant grass, the grass land is combined with swamplands. The vast swamplands are adorned by different water plants such as water lilies, water hyacinth and lotus. The landscape has other surprises as well where large semi evergreen forest give shelter to number of animals. Kaziranga national park is home large beasts. The major attraction is undoubtedly one horned Indian rhinoceros. Other than that there is a large population of wild elephants, wild buffalo, Indian bison, swamp deer, sloth beer, capped langurs, hog deer, python, leopards, jungle cat and tigers.

Elephant Rides
The most preferred mode of transportation to watch the wildlife, is on the back of elephant. It is noise free and trail to the deep inside the park without much disturbing the wildlife. Elephant can be booked from Mihimukh , located 3km from Kohora. The ride is for 3 hours and are taken out thrice in a day.

Jeep Safari
Jeep Safari is also very popular and can be booked at various lodges and through local operators.

Bird Watching
Kaziranga vivid flora and landscape make it a bird’s paradise. It is a great place to watch different kind of birds such as pallas' fishing eagle, crested serpent eagle, swamp partridge, red jungle fowl, Bengal floricab, bar headed goose, whistling teal, pelicans, rose breasted parakeets, black necked storks, adjutant Storks, open billed storks, egrets, herons and white wired wood ducks.
