Silchar
Silchar is the headquarter of Chachar district, a calm hill town is inhabited by Bengali community. Silchar is well connected with other cities and near by states by air and rail. The nearest airport is Silchar airport 13km from the town. The railhead is situated 3km out of town in Tarapur. It also has a major bus terminus connected with major places in Assam, Meghalaya and Tripura. Silchar is a beautiful town bypassed by the Barak river the flows at the extreme east of the town. Silchar offers a welcome break for the travelers who travel down from the Shillong, Mizoram or Tripura. There are number of tourist attraction in the Silchar town that makes people to stay here for couple of days.
Prime Attractions
Sri Sri Kancha Kanti Devi TempleIt is unique temple as the goddess to whom the temple is dedicated a union of goddess Kali and Durga. The sprawling temple is located 17km away from the Silchar airport at Udharband. The four armed gold idol was established by Silchar king in 1806. The old temple was demolished in earthquake and instead a new one had been built up. Further 2km from the temple, at Brajamohan Goswami Ashram the desire tree is prime attraction where it is believed the one desire is assured under the dream-commanded tree.
Khaspur
Khaspur has a famed history. It was the capital of Cachhar kings in 17th century. The ruins are the major tourist attraction. Though the original palace is no more exist but the underlings, the entrance gate known as Suryadwar and Debalaya are still exist. The elephant patterned gate speaks of erstwhile rulers magnificent story. You can reach here by taking an auto, taxi or city bus from Silchar town and get down at Salganga
Adventure In Assam
Adventure buffers have plenty of option to quench their thirst. The mighty Brahmaputra river and its tributaries offers a wide range of river adventure such as challenging river rafting. Maniharan Tunnel
According to legend, Lord Krishna used this tunnel from wher now Tribeni river flows. There is a huge temple complex of different deities of Lord Rama, Lakshmana, Garurha and Hanuman. In Dol Purnima (Holi) a festival with much fanfare is been celebrated at the temple complex.
