Ujjayanta PalaceLocated in Agartala, the capital of Tripura, it is a lavish palace belonging to 1899 AD. Its domed structure, tiled flooring and wood work, showcase a classy and royal finish of the palace. The palace is decorated with lush green gardens and water tanks. Within the temple complex, there are also several temples where Hindu Lords, mainly Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi, are worshiped.
Neermahal
A dream transformed into reality, this palace surely takes your breath way with its amazing beauty and the entire set-up. The palace is built amidst the Rudrasagar Lake, with picturesque view of open lawns surrounding the palace. The royal rooms within the castle are remarkably ornamented.
Udaipur
Udaipur, in Tripura, is best known for its attractions like the ancient Hindu temple of Goddess Bhubaneshwari, Mahadev Temple devoted to Lord Shiva and Durga Temple. The most famous temple that Tripura is known for is Tripura Sundari Temple, which is one of the revered Shaktipithas of Goddess Parvati. Apart from the religious sites, Udaipur also houses Sepahijala, a wildlife sanctuary, where one can enjoy wildlife safaris, boating down the lakes or a visit to the botanical garden and zoo within the sanctuary.
Agartala
The capital city of Tripura, Agartala is one of the most important destinations of Tripura. It houses several places of interest for the traveler like the Ujjayanta Palace, the first political emissary of the Britishers and many temples of Hindu and Budshist faith like the Jaggannath Temple, Buddha Mandir and the Uma Maheshwar Temple.
Dumboor Lake
One of the many scenic attractions of Tripura is Dumboor lake, which is located at the confluence of two rivers namely Raima and Sarma. The forty eight islands on the lake add to the majestic spell of the place. Various water sports and other activities like bird-watching can be enjoyed here.
Wildlife Sanctuaries
Tripura is rich in flora and fauna, as most of its land area is covered with forests and open areas. Gumti, Rowa, Sepahija and Trishna are the wildlife sanctuaries located here, housing several endangered species of wildlife and nature's scenic attractions.
Tripura Government Museum
The repository of Tripura's culture of the past and the present, the Tripura Government Museum preserves some of the rare collection of coins, paintings, jewelery and tribal artifacts.
TRIBAL TOUR TO TRIPURA
Tribal communities constitute a major chunk of the population in Tripura and thus quite obviously, they lend a distinct cultural flavor to the state through their rituals, faiths, festivals and folk dances. Mostly, they earn their livelihood through agricultural activities. People of the tribal communities are quite humble and peace-loving. They like gaudy attires and accessories, colorful celebrations and don't hesitate to do laborious tasks.The main tribes of the region are Chakma, Chaimal, Reang, Tippera, Tripuri and Mog, among others. People of Chakma and Mog Tribes mainly follow Buddhism. Mog Tribe is one of the oldest tribes here, dating back to 10th century. These tribes generally inhabit the hilly areas and make their houses at a height to prevent any attacks from wildlife.
