Kuari Pass Trek

One of Uttarakhand’s finest and most accessible treks, affording magnificent views of the snow-clad peaks around Nanda Devi. Kuari Pass trek is also known as Curzon Trail and one of the popular trekking adventure during British Era.

Kuari Pass is surrounded by various mountains ranging from Trisul in the east to Kedarnath in the west. Apart from this Chaukhamba, Nilkantha, Kamet, Gauri Parbat, Hathi Parbat, Nanda Devi, Bethatoli and Dunagiri, all are arranged in a fascinating arc. Trekking over the Kuari Pass offers some extraordinary views of Himalayas. Once a favorite amongst Britishers, is now a popular among numerous trekkers. Passing through some tough gorges, the surrounding is not less than any paradise.Throughout the trek one can explore the nature’s beauty with some captivating flora and fauna. In addition meadows of Auli and Gorson adds much glory to the expedition.

Kuari Pass is not so high (3640m) as per Himalayan standards. The trek starts from Auli and 75km trek passes waterfalls, Ghat lakes, waterfalls, forests, meadows and small villages to complete it in five days. Many trekker finishes the trek in Tapovan in three days. Acclimatize with the climate is necessary thats why it is important to take one day rest in lower altitude. Necessary essentials including tents, guide and food supplies can be arranged from Joshimath. Auli can be reached by bus or rope way from Joshimath.

Trekking Itinerary

Day 1: Haridwar - Auli (2800 M / 9185 Ft)
From Haridwar to Auli is 9km drive covers an area of 296km. Auli is famous for skiing and the season lasts to April. Auli offers an enchanting view of Nanda Devi peak and other Himalayan ranges. Stay overnight in rest house.

Day 2: Auli - Chitrakantha (3310 M)
First day trek is of 15km and takes around 8 hours to complete. The trek passes through lush green meadows of Gurson and en route to famous Nanda Devi National Park along the Rishi Ganga. Base camp is in Chitrakantha. Overnight stay in tents.

Day 3: Chitrakantha (3310 M) - Kuari Pass (3640 M) - Dakhwani (3300 M)
The most toughest part of the trek that passes through steep path. The trek from Chitrakantha to Kuari Pass covers around 14km and takes 4-5 hrs. While hiking experience some magnificent Himalayan peaks. After reaching Kuari Pass, trek downwards to Dakhwani that is at the height of 3300m.
Day 4: Dakhwani (3300 M) - Pana (2450 M)
Dakhwani to Panna (2450m) is the most enticing trail where you will pass through thick forests and small deserted villages. It takes about 6-7 hrs. Overnight stay in tents.

Day 5: Pana (2450 M) - Ramni (2550 M)
Panna to Ramni trek is of 17 km will take about 6-7 hrs.

Day 6: Ramani (2550 M) - Ghat (1330 M) - Rudraprayag/Srinagar
Trek 15 km (4-5 hrs) to reach Ghat. From Ghat drive down to Rudraprayag or Srinagar (5-6 hrs).

Day 7: Rudraprayag/Srinagar - Haridwar
Last day of the trek passes from Rudraprayag to Haridwar that takes around 4 hrs .
