Brighton of the East” is located on the Bay of Bengal. It is the most popular sea resort and a favorite honeymoon destination for middle class Bengali families. Sight And Activities

New Digha
New Digha is the extension of old Digha. Most of the tourist prefer to stay here because of large number of tourist resorts and hotels. There is also a small park and lake adorned the place.

Shankarpur Beach
A fishing harbor project is now a virgin beach is about 14km from Digha. If don’t like the usual crowd in Digha beach, this is an ideal place to spend some quality time in a serene and gentle sea wave. There are also few hotels and resorts, which offers almost all the delights of private beach. The surrounding environment is also very lovely. The casuarina groves, nice gentle sea wave and coupled with good climate embellished the place.

Junput Beach
The scientific research and industrial area is another beach resort near Digha. It is about 36 km from Digha and usually exposed only when the tide ebbs. The place is a fish cultivation and research center of government Fisheries Department. Also duck breeding and shark oil extraction are done here.

Chandaneswar
To the west about 6 km from Digha is the famous Shiv temple where every year at the end of March, an annual fair is been organized around this temple. Pilgrims from nearby states come to visit the fair. There are buses and rickshaw services from Digha to Chandanswar.

Shopping
Digha is an excellent place for shopping where you can get attractive ornaments and curios made up of sea shells. Digha is also famous for colorful mattress made up of weeds. These are known as “madurs” in Bengali. Digha has cashewnuts farms and you can buy cashewnuts in much cheaper rates here.

Eating
Digha is a place where you can get plenty of good sea foods. The prices of simple Bengali thali is astounding low. Don’t miss the taste of rice and fish in this beach resort.
