Location : Nice hill station perched at an altitude of 1458m, 32km south of Darjeeling.
How To Reach : Nearest airport is Bagdogra (60km), Kurseong is connected with New Jalpaiguri (59km) and Siliguri (51km) railway route. By road it is connected with Darjeeling, Siliguri, Kalimpong, Mirik, Gangtok, and other nearby places.
Where To Stay : Various luxury and budget hotels.
When To Go : Best time March to September.
Recommended Clothing : Light woolen in Summer and heavy warm clothes in Winter.
Kurseong is a quiet alternative to the shoving crowd of Darjeeling. It is a little town on the way to Siliguri to Darjeeling. Kurseaong named after the Kurson –rip, a small white orchid found abundance in the area. Kurseong is a serene place and peaceful place where the region dotted with several churches and surrounded with undulating tea estates. It is lower elevated than Darjeeling, enjoys a milder and clean environment throughout the year.

Tea Garden at Kurseong

Kurseong is a perfect place for nature lover as the place is surrounded by lush alpine forests. the best part of Kurseong is its climate, which is never been bone chilling nor blistering. Exception is only rainy season when rain pour non stop, in fact Kurseong is second most highest rainfall place after Cherrapunjee in Meghalaya. The generous rains make the place more beautiful and fascinating. The river beds glitter in the light of the sun like silver lines, surrounded by rich flora. There are numerous good walks in the area, including one to Eagle’s Crag that afford splendid views down the Teesta and the plains to the south. Due to natural beauty Kurseong is gaining popularity as a hill station and its tourism development is fast developing. People here are fun loving and extreme warm.

Sight And Activities

Eagle’s Craig View Point
The place is popular among travelers as it is perched on a cliff and you can see a sweeping view of the plains, mountain, green hills, hamlets and slopes from here. You can just walk to the nearby flower garden or just watch the beauty of nature at the cafeteria. At night from here whole of Siliguri town is visible in a dotted lights.

Deer Park
Deer park is located in Dow Hills under the jurisdiction of the State Forest Department. Deer park was famous for numerous deer but poaching and deforestation destroyed much of its beauty. though venturing inside deep inside the forest is prohibited but you can easily catch some animals coming out of the wilderness.

Forest Museum
It is located in Dow Hill and under the jurisdiction of Forest Department. The museum preserve the dummies of different animals that inhabited the forest area. Other than it preserve the colorful butterflies and other rare organism.

Bhangzang Salamander Lake
It is situated 14km from Kurseong. A relatively unknown destination is beautified with a green tinged lake that give shelter to some of the rarest of salamanders.

Bagora
The place is also known as zero point as it is the highest elevation in Kurseong. It is also has a base camp of Indian Air Force with a helipad.

Food
Enjoy delicious momos, thukpas and other Tibetan cuisines. Don’t worry if you are a vegetarian, there are number of restaurants such as Shyam’s restaurant, Jeet restaurant and Batloi’s where you get your preferred meal.
