Location : Near the Nepal border, halfway between Siliguri and Darjeeling in the state of West Bengal
How To Reach : Nearest airport is Bagdogra (55km), New Jalpaiguri rail station is 60 km from the hill resort. Road network links to nearest towns like Bagdogra, Siliguri, Kurseong and Darjeeling.

Mirik stands at a height of 1,768m in the Himalayas and covered in the forested hills of Himalayas. An offbeat hill resort is perched close to Siliguri, though much unknown terrain, Mirik can spellbound travelers by its unexploited beauty and serene ambiance. 52 km from Siliguri, the place is surrounded rippling tea estates, orange orchards, cardamom plantations, and forests of tall, dark Japanese cedars.

New Ralang Gompa

A less known hill station is now gaining popularity as a result tourist resorts and guest houses mushrooming up in the places. Most of travelers comes from the nearby cities or from Kolkata to detoxify themselves from the hustle bustle of the city. The rejuvenating beauty of the place is graced by wild flowers, bewitching Samendu lake that surrounded by forested hills and tea gardens.

The Lake Samendu
This picturesque lake is 1.25 km long and surrounded by 3.5 km road. To the local people Mirik is identified with this lake. It is also the main attraction of Mirik. The lake is further beautified with a floating fountain and 8 ft long arch type footbridge on the lake. Astounding Mt. Kanchenjunga is visible at the background and green luster of Oak, Chestnut and Maple add more glory to the ambiance. Boating a good option to absorb the calmness and beauty of the lake. There are few resorts available around the lake where you can easily stay for couple of days.

Walk To Tea Estate And Orange Orchards
Of you are in Mirik don’t miss the opportunity to visit the lush tea gardens, which are one of the best in the world. Apart from tea estates, orange orchards and cardamom plantations is another attraction of Mirik. If you are nature lover then the beautiful nurseries with a good collection of orchids surely invites you. There is only one monasteries, which is highly revered among Buddhists in that region.

Kawlay Dara View Point
From Kawlay Dara Point you gets a nice view of snow capped mountains and a brooming view of the plains. The place is 30 minutes walking distance from main Mirik town.
