
The main attraction of Sunderban is the royal Bengal Tigers ( official estimation is 274), which are elusive, intelligent and sharp hunters. Tigers of Sunderban are notorious for their man eating habits. They mostly resides deep inside the mangrove forest and very rare to have a glimpse of it. Still they are terror to the villagers and fishermen. Their are strange stories about tigers in Sunderban when tiger attacks honey collectors and woodcutters. Even Sunderbans tigers are very good swimmer and take their pray from the boat in a lifeless night. Muslim and Hindus revere the tiger god Dakshin Roy and Bonbibi (forest god).
Sight And Activities

Other fauna includes crocodiles, variety of reptiles like king cobra, rock python and water monitor. The endangered river terrapin and barkind deer are found in Mechua beach and holiday islands respectively. The aqua fauna of Sunderbans includes fishes, red Fiddler crabs and hermit crabs.
Sajnekhali Sanctuary
Sajnekhali sanctuary is a part of Sunderban national park. The place houses rich avian population where you can easily spot kingfisher, white bellied Sea eagle, plovers, lap wings, curfews, sandpipers and occasional pelicans.
Boat Ride
Tiger can be spot on comfortable country boats with ample shades and with a guide who engross you with good tiger stories. The Sunderban tiger camp is also a good place to sleep on the dry land.
Crocodile Hunting At Bhagabatpur
Bhaabatpur is the largest hatchery of estuarine crocodiles in the world. From Namkhana to Bhagabatpur takes around 2 hours.
